From May 11 to 12, at the national wheat scab resistance breeding promotion conference held in Yangzhou City and Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, Xu Weigang, an academician of the CAE Member and the chief expert of the national wheat breeding joint research, disclosed that China has overcome the key difficulties in limiting the improvement of scab resistance by using molecular breeding technology, systematically carrying out breeding research and digging breeding materials, and establishing a national collaborative innovation consortium, creating a batch of excellent new germplasm with high scab resistance and excellent comprehensive properties, effectively ensuring the ability of major wheat production areas to prevent and respond to various meteorological disasters and pests, and ensuring the continuous high yield and harvest of wheat production in China.
